2022 APPLICATION DETAILS

Welcome!  Please read through our application details below to determine if applying for one of our 2022 Impact Awards seems like a good fit for your organization.  At the end you will find links to our info and Q+A sessions for applicants and to our 2022 application.  We are glad you are here!

FUNDING PRIORITY

In 2022, ninety-nine girlfriends will fund organizations that are working to dismantle systemic racism, advance anti-racism, and move our region towards racial equity as defined and experienced by BIPOC communities (Black, Indigenous and people of color). The work of these organizations should be in collaboration with the BIPOC communities they serve, preferably through self-identified BIPOC leadership, staff, and board members.

REVIEW CRITERIA

We award grants in five focus areas: Creative Expression, Education & Lifelong Learning, Environment & Sustainability, Family & Human Services, and Health & Wellness. See the history of our grants from 2016-2021 here

Review teams will use the following criteria to make decisions about which organizations will advance as finalists for funding in 2022. We will gather and review information from applicants’ websites and other sources in addition to application materials.

ELIGIBILITY

Ninety-nine girlfriends welcomes applications that meet all of the following criteria.

  • The applicant is a 501(c)(3) or a Tribal Entity or has a tax-exempt fiscal sponsor.*

  • The applicant can show an annual revenue of at least $100,000 in the most recently completed fiscal year.**

  • The applicant has operated as a 501(c)(3) or been fiscally sponsored by a 501(c)(3) in the state of Oregon and/or SW Washington for at least three full years as of June 6, 2022.

  • The applicant can demonstrate that their work impacts at least one of these counties: Clackamas, Clark, Multnomah, and Washington County (Portland/SW Washington).

*If you are not an independent 501(c)(3), you still must meet the annual revenue and years-in-operation criteria (see above).

** In most cases, we will verify this using the first page of your form 990. However, if your organization's budget includes significant in-kind professional services (e.g., you're a community health clinic staffed by volunteer doctors and nurses, or a free legal clinic staffed by pro bono attorneys) we will also accept internal financial statements showing the value of these services as part of your income/expense. These must be year-end statements for your most recently completed fiscal year.

USE OF FUNDS

Funds can be used to support specific projects or general operations. Funds will be granted in early December 2022 and must be spent within two years of the award.
